"Public Monitoring of State Programs is in the Interest of Every Kazakhstan Citizen!"
From August 5 to 7, 2024, an educational training for civil society representatives from the Zhetysu region took place in the conference hall of the "Koktem Grand" hotel in Taldykorgan. The event was organized by the Public Foundation "Information Resource Center" of Almaty as part of the project "Monitoring of State Development Programs Conducted by Civil Society Entities as a Key Component of Political Dialogue in Kazakhstan", financed by the European Union.
The training was attended by 15 leaders and members of public organizations, representing almost the entire spectrum of civil society in the Zhetysu Region. The training coordinator, Ms. Zhanar Bolatovna Nurmukhanova, an expert in the field of public oversight, not only provided new knowledge on the methodology of public monitoring but also contributed to the formation and strengthening of practical skills in public monitoring, aimed at improving the quality of the implementation of state (national and regional) development programs, designed and implemented in the interests of every Kazakhstan citizen.
The following key issues were addressed during the training:
- Kazakhstan's legislation defining the parameters of public monitoring: participants were introduced to the legal framework regulating the activities of civil society in the field of public oversight, enabling them to act within the law and effectively defend the interests of citizens.
- International principles of public participation: participants learned about global practices and standards of public participation, which will help them apply best practices and strengthen the impact of public monitoring.
- General overview of the methodology for public monitoring of state development programs: participants mastered the methodology that will allow them to conduct quality monitoring of state programs and analyze their results.
- Development of recommendations for government bodies: participants learned to formulate specific and practical recommendations to improve the effectiveness of state programs.
The training was conducted in an interactive format, during which participants actively engaged with the educational and practical materials, shared their own experiences and successful cases, and worked in groups to solve practical tasks.
As a result of the training, participants noted the relevance of the training topic and expressed their opinion on the significance of broad and qualified public monitoring of our country's state programs as a factor in increasing their productivity and effectiveness under conditions of full implementation.
